TORONTO – The Ontario government is helping large industrial and commercial companies return to full levels of operation without the fear of electricity costs spiking by providing more stable electricity pricing for two years. Large consumers that participate in the Industrial Conservation Initiative (ICI) will not be required to reduce their electricity usage during peak hours, as their proportion of Global Adjustment (GA) charges for these companies will be frozen.
Effective June 26, Class A customers will not need to anticipate and reduce their electricity demand during peak hours for the current base period. Class A customers will maintain their peak demand factor from the 2019-2020 base period to determine their Global Adjustment charges in July 2021 to June 2022 adjustment period.
