Westario Power has always respected the privacy of customers and recognizes the need to protect confidential, personal information. To reinforce our ongoing commitment to your privacy, Westario Power has developed a Privacy Policy to comply with the requirements of the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

Personal information from customers is required in order to provide electrical service, as well as to offer programs and services that meet the needs of customers.

Personal information refers to personally identifiable information such as identification numbers, billing records, metering information, and energy usage information. Information about customers or suppliers that is maintained in a form that cannot lead to the identification of an individual is not considered personal information.

Westario Power uses and discloses information for the following purposes:
 To establish and maintain a customer relationship for the delivery of electrical services, and related services and programs, including keeping records of the customer relationship.
 To administer its billing and accounting systems.
 To assist us in the collection of accounts.
 To assess electrical system requirements.
 To respond to your inquiries about energy use and billing.
 To research and develop new products and/or programs to better serve the needs of customers.
 To assess load research data for the purpose of cost allocation studies, analysis and rate setting.
 To prevent fraud with respect to both you and our company.
 To meet legal and regulatory requirements.
 To ensure compliance with regulatory, legal or other applicable legislation.

We recognize that your information is private. Westario Power takes every necessary precaution to ensure the security of information, whether it is stored electronically or on paper. Westario Power Inc. will report to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) any breach involving personal information under our control if it is reasonable in the circumstance to believe that the breach creates a “real risk of significant harm” (RROSH) to an individual. Personal information will be protected from unauthorized access using security safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the personal information. You have the right to request access to your personal information and to request amendments to personal information about you to ensure its accuracy and completeness.

Our Privacy Policy came into effect on January 1, 2004 and was updated November 2018. The Policy may be updated periodically as legislative changes are implemented.
