Staff at the Affordability Fund were notified of calls received in the Halton Hills and Renfrew areas from someone claiming to be from the “Ontario Rebate and Reward Association,” offering rebates on electricity bills and asking for access to homes to verify they were eligible for the rebates.

Calls are now also being made in Collingwood and may be in other areas as well.  The caller made no mention of calls to the Affordability Fund number or signing up online and the telephone number was ‘blocked’ on call display.

A message has been placed on the Affordabiility Fund website that ties to the OEB warning message about these calls.  Any calls made from the Affordability Fund call centre outbound now show the 1-855 Affordability Fund phone number and ‘Affordability’.
